We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers to serve on various committees that help keep the organization running smoothly and successfully. Meet our committee members below!

We’re always on the lookout for volunteers to join our dedicated team of committee members. If you’d like to get involved, please send an email to hello@wcevancouver.com.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee aims to create an enjoyable and welcoming environment that fosters connections among members at WCE Vancouver events. In collaboration with the Programming Co-Directors, the committee members play a key role in various aspects of the event planning and execution including venue coordination, catering, entertainment management, decoration oversight, speaker coordination, and other essential tasks. Events occur approximately once a month and virtual committee meetings will take place to prepare for each event. Joining the Programming Committee offers volunteers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to event preparation, apart from more specific responsibilities such as licensed beverage servers or set-up/clean-up assistance. This position provides a platform for your creative events ideas and we welcome any applicant who would like to contribute to future successful WCE events.

Haily Gada, Ausenco

Jaimie Sokalski, P.Eng., Associated Engineering

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of scholarships to fund my education. I am thrilled to be able to support the development of other women in engineering through WCE’s scholarship committee.”

Rita Gareb-Ouko, B.Tech Forensic Science, RAM Consulting

I joined Women in Consulting Engineering because I am passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in our industry. This organization offers a supportive community where I can connect with like-minded professionals, share experiences, and collaborate on initiatives that empower women in engineering. By being part of this group, I hope to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable engineering industry while also expanding my network and knowledge base.

Outreach Committee

The goal of the Outreach Committee is to increase the visibility, enrollment, and participation of minorities in our industry by planning and participating in outreach events. The WCE Outreach Committee works directly with the Outreach Director, meets virtually once a month to review the Outreach workplan, coordinate and plan for upcoming events, and discuss new potential events to participate in. Depending on the event, additional time is spent preparing for Outreach events such as contacting partner organizations, coordinating volunteers, obtaining materials, and participating in the event day. Outreach events occur approximately once every two months and vary in level of effort and organization. Volunteering as a member of WCE’s Outreach Committee includes more involvement than participating as a casual volunteer at Outreach events; both are integral to the success of our Outreach efforts.

If you have an eye for graphic design and an interest in spreading the word about WCE, this committee would be right for you!
