Women in Consulting Engineering (WCE) is excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant of $155,970 from Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE). This grant will enable us to build capacity within our organization and continue to support and empower women in engineering.

WAGE is a Government of Canada initiative. The objective of the WAGE Women’s Program is to achieve the full participation of women in the economic, social, and democratic life of Canada through systemic change. WAGE provides grant funding to eligible organizations in support of projects at the local, regional, and national levels that address the following three priority areas:

  • Improving the economic security and prosperity of women and girls
  • Encouraging women and girls in leadership and decision-making roles
  • Ending violence against women and girls

Women in Consulting Engineering Vancouver (WCE Vancouver) and Women in Consulting Engineering Calgary (WCE Calgary) are collaborating to develop a cross-regional strategy and governance model to enhance our organization’s capacity to support and empower women in engineering.

Project Objectives

  • Strategic Planning: Develop a comprehensive 5-year strategic plan outlining WCE’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives, along with a framework for tracking progress.
  • Legal and Compliance: Establish a cross-regional governance and reporting structure, create regional bylaws, and register WCE branding and intellectual property.
  • Generate a Finance and Accounting Structure: Develop a cross-regional sponsorship strategy, best accounting practices, and financial reporting templates.
  • Marketing, Branding, and Communication: Develop a regional brand strategy, branding guidelines, and a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy.
  • Technology Infrastructure and Data Management: Invest in technology to support regional operations.
  • Roll-out of Changes to Individual Chapters

We are incredibly proud to have received this grant, which marks a significant milestone for our organization. This project will build on WCE’s successes, streamline operations, and support existing and future chapters. This will enable us to better support women engineers, ultimately driving greater diversity and inclusion in the consulting engineering industry.

This project has been funded through Women and Gender Equality Canada’s Women’s Program.

As part of our ongoing capacity building project supported by the WAGE grant, we would like to recognize ACEC-BC as a supporting partner in this initiative.
